On Friday, October 3rd the Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 was passed and included the long awaited 8 year extension of the solar investment tax credit. Of major significance, the act also lifted the $2000 cap on the tax credit for residential solar electric systems. Now, both commercial and residential solar energy systems will be eligible for a 30% tax credit. Effective January 1st 2009, there will be a significant increase in the affordability and financial return of a solar energy system for homeowners, making it one of the safest and best investments available today.
